ElevenLabs

Voice tools: text read aloud, and speech turned into text

Started with synthetic voices and now runs speech-to-text as well. People who would rather talk than type dictate email, notes and prompts into it, then tidy the transcript afterwards. Pricing runs per minute of audio above a small free allowance. Names, jargon and strong accents are where it still trips.

Who backs it

Sorted by strength of stance

  • AI researcher · Lex Fridman Podcast

For dictation he puts the raw audio through ElevenLabs, which he calls probably the best speech-to-text model. Mistakes still come back, so the text then goes to a prompt holding a dictionary of names and terms he uses often.
