Logic Pro

Apple's audio workstation, used here to edit spoken word

Music production software from Apple, sold once instead of by subscription. A fair number of podcast editors use it well outside its intended job, cutting speech on a timeline and running noise reduction and leveling before export. It is heavier than a dedicated podcast editor, and the trade for that weight is control over every stage of the chain.
