I Promise
Picture book of daily promises about school, effort and community, for young children
Forty pages, illustrated by Nina Mata, published by HarperCollins in 2020. The text is built around the promises that pupils at the I Promise School in Akron recite each day: show up, work hard, ask for help, be kind. Parents read it as a list of small daily commitments a child can make to themselves and to the people around them. It went straight to number one on the New York Times children's picture book list, and it is the author's own book.
