A small set of moves, repeated: name the feeling, ask an open question, skip the lecture. Faber and Mazlish wrote it for parents of young children, and filled it with cartoon strips that put the usual line next to a better one. The situations rhyme, which is why leaders keep finding their way to it. Someone who is upset. Or someone who wants to be heard. Nothing in the book is about work, and the people who use it at work say that is exactly why it lands.
