This Is Marketing

The 2018 book that folds thirty years of Godin's teaching into one framework

Marketing here means making a change happen for a specific group of people. Ads barely come into it. The sequence: decide who it is for and what it is for, serve the smallest viable audience, then earn permission to keep talking to them. It grew out of The Marketing Seminar, an online course Godin had already run with thousands of students, so the material had gone through argument before it reached print. Positioning, pricing and status roles are the most quoted sections.
