Road bike

Drop-bar bike for long road miles, including time trial builds for racing

A drop-bar bike built for distance on tarmac. Triathletes and time trialists ride a variant with aero bars and steeper geometry that puts them low and forward, which is faster alone and harder on the back. Prices run from a few hundred dollars secondhand to the cost of a car. Fit matters more than the frame, and almost everyone learns that the expensive way.

Rides a Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 8 as his main road bike, switched over in late spring 2025 from an Endurace. He discloses that Canyon has loaned him bikes since autumn 2024 so he has enough component variety to test devices on, and notes separately that he bought several Canyons himself over the previous decade.
