Evening review
Going back over the day at night: what you did, said and could have handled better
Seneca described sitting down each night, once the house had gone quiet, and examining the whole day while hiding nothing from himself. The modern version is a few minutes with a notebook: did I do what I planned, where did I lose my temper, what do I now know that helps tomorrow. Most people who keep it finish in under ten minutes. They describe it as a check, not a round of self-criticism.

Tells readers to close out the day the way Seneca did, going back over what they did and said once the house has gone quiet. The questions he sets are narrow: did I follow the plan, was I prepared enough, what could I do better.
