Say the feeling, then the behavior that caused it, then the impact it had
Three parts, in a fixed order. What you feel. The specific thing the other person did. And what it caused. Sinek reaches for it in the conversations people put off, such as telling a boss that your ideas keep getting shot down in meetings. Specificity is the part that does the work, so dates and meeting minutes rather than you always. It hands the other person something they can act on instead of a verdict on their character to argue with.
