Front-loaded eating

Most of the day's food eaten earlier, with the smallest meal last

Breakfast and lunch carry the bulk of the calories, dinner shrinks, and late eating mostly disappears. The reasoning is circadian rather than arithmetic: insulin sensitivity, body temperature and melatonin all run on a clock, and eating hard against that clock tends to show up as poorer sleep and worse glucose handling. Trials comparing early and late eating at matched calories generally favor the early pattern.
