Group fitness classes
Coached, timed sessions in a room full of people, in place of training alone
Functional and high-intensity group training, of the kind sold by F45, Barry's, CrossFit boxes and countless independent studios: a coach, a room of other people, and a 45 to 60 minute session of circuits, intervals and strength work. The program is set for you and the clock keeps you moving, while the shared effort supplies motivation on the days it is missing. People who trained alone for years often say the community was the thing that surprised them. Memberships cost more than a standard gym, and the intensity is easier to overdo than underdo, so rest days matter more.

After years of training alone he says he found a community with a support system and an energy he calls incredible, and he no longer always works out by himself. The community is F45, his own brand: TODAY notes he is its chief brand officer, and the interview was promoting his Wahlberg Week class series there.
