Turkish get-up
Standing up from the floor with a weight locked out overhead, one slow rep at a time
Start flat on your back with a kettlebell pressed over one shoulder. Roll to an elbow, then a hand, bridge the hips, sweep a leg back into a lunge, stand, and reverse every step to get back down. One rep can take half a minute. Loads stay modest because the point is shoulder stability, hip mobility and control through positions ordinary training never visits. Coaches also use it as a screen: whatever is stiff, weak or asymmetrical announces itself somewhere in the sequence.

The get-up is the second of the two Simple & Sinister lifts. He teaches it alongside the swing through what he describes as an accelerated learning sequence refined over years of teaching, with the goblet squat and several stretches brought in to open the hips.
