Ab wheel
A small wheel with two handles, rolled out from the knees or the feet
Two handles through a single wheel. You roll forward until the body is almost flat, then pull back, and the abs work to stop the spine extending rather than to crunch it. That is why it turns up in strength programs instead of in circuits. It costs very little and is far harder than it looks, with the standing version taking most people years.

A reader with no kettlebell asked him for bodyweight midsection work. His reply in the comments put the ab wheel among the first things he would pick. The article it sits under makes the case for training abs with heavy low reps rather than chasing the burn from high ones.
