Glowforge laser cutter

Desktop laser cutter that cuts and engraves wood, acrylic and card

A laser cutter about the size of a large printer. The head tracks back and forth over the bed like a flatbed plotter, except it burns the line rather than drawing it, so a file becomes a cut or an engraving in wood, acrylic, leather or card. It came out of a Kickstarter campaign and helped move laser cutting onto a desk.

He owns one, and says he was bad at it for a long time and is getting better. His example: he disliked a sign in his building lobby, so he made a replacement, and went through 18 versions before it looked professional. He rates it as a Kickstarter machine that actually works.
