Asking for help

Four words, can you help me, used on purpose rather than as a last resort

Making the request of a colleague or a friend before things get bad. The common belief has it backwards, in Sinek's telling. People trust you more after you ask them for something. Not less. A friend who hides a struggle has taken away your chance to show up. Starting small helps, on questions where nothing is at stake, so that the serious request later is not the first one you have ever made. Fear of being a burden is what stops most people.
