Sulforaphane (broccoli sprouts)
Compound from broccoli sprouts that switches on the NRF2 pathway
Chewing or chopping cruciferous vegetables forms it, most concentrated in broccoli sprouts, and it activates the NRF2 antioxidant response pathway. Home-grown sprouts are the cheapest reliable source; supplement products vary because the enzyme needed to form it is fragile. Interest centers on detoxification enzymes and inflammatory markers.
