The Happy Body

Jerzy and Aniela Gregorek's morning program of slow lifts, stretching and eating rules

Jerzy Gregorek won four world weightlifting championships and coached at UCLA. With his wife Aniela he teaches the program the book sets out. It is a short daily sequence of a few exercises, each one done slowly to a fixed count. Flexibility, strength and posture are the target together rather than any one of them. Rules for eating are strict and specific. The tone is uncompromising, and a lot of the book goes on excuses, which is either why people stick with it or why they put it down.
